About Blåfall
At Blåfall, we develop new projects, build and own hydropower plants throughout Norway.
Our employees form a highly qualified energy team. Together, we have more than 100 years of industry experience in renewable energy, and in hydropower specifically, gained from both large and small projects.
The Blåfall team has been a pioneer in the small-scale hydropower industry since early 2000s. For over 20 years, we have led the development of this sector. We place great value on our strong relationships with landowners and local stakeholders, and through this, Blåfall takes an active role in the continued advancement of the industry. We build renewable energy for the next generations.
How is the development of hydropower plants financed?
Our financing is provided through a combination of investment funds and Norwegian savings banks, ensuring continuous and sufficient access to the captical needed to realize all sustainable projects. This financial structure aligns well with Blåfall’s overall strategy of developing and delivering new small-scale hydropower plants.
Sustainability
Sustainable development consists of three dimensions: economic, environmental and social. Hydropower sets us up for the future, and the overall balance is of essence — through the interaction between nature, the environment and value creation.
Green and Renewable
With zero emissions, hydropower is a 100% green and renewable energy source. Norway’s topography is almost perfectly designed for hydropower. With abundant precipitation, high mountains, deep valleys and associated rivers, we have access to the natural resources that make the development of sustainable power generation possible. The power plants have a minimum carbon footprint during the construction period with low usage of concrete in small dams and power station, leaving an optimum power plant for generations to come.
Climate
The climate may become both wilder and wetter in the coming decades. For this reason, power plants are built to operate almost autonomously, producing clean electricity for generations with only minimal inspection and maintenance. Nature, the environment, and society work together toward sustainable development—meeting the energy needs of today’s population without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
Commitments
We are committed to respecting human and labour rights as set out in the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises (MNEs) and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs), including the ILO core conventions and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
We are committed to adhering to standards that prevent corruption and bribery, and we have implemented these commitments through our policies and procedures.
